Frederike Kaltheuner led Privacy International's Data Exploitation Programme, co-authoring the foundational 2018 joint report Privacy and Freedom of Expression In the Age of Artificial Intelligence with ARTICLE 19. She went on to establish and direct Human Rights Watch's Technology and Human Rights Division, serve as Special Adviser to the European Commission Vice-President on digital policy, and found the European AI and Society Fund (a €4.5 million portfolio focused on European AI policy). She holds an MSc in Internet Science from the University of Oxford and currently works independently on EU AI industrial strategy, co-authoring the EU AI Industrial Policy Monitor with the AI Now Institute.
