Mgr. et Mgr. Jan Vobořil, Ph.D. is Executive Director and principal lawyer at Iuridicum Remedium (IuRe), Prague, where he has worked since 2009. Trained at Charles University Prague in law and economic and social history, he leads the Czech Republic's sole digital-rights organisation across strategic litigation, AI Act enforcement, and public-mobilisation campaigns. He holds a seat on the Government Council for Human Rights' Committee for Human Rights and Modern Technology, where he advocates for analogue alternatives in state digitalisation, and on the Committee for the Rights of Older People.

Vobořil's most consequential file is IuRe's two-decade campaign against blanket metadata retention. In January 2021 IuRe crowdfunded a civil lawsuit with journalist Jan Cibulka as plaintiff and Vobořil as lead counsel, challenging six-month retention of communications metadata by Czech telecoms operators; Vobořil named the documented stakes: "Data has been misused in the past, either to obtain information about contacts of influential people, to identify participants of anti-government demonstrations, or to identify journalistic sources." After a 2024 Czech Supreme Court grant of appeal, an April 2025 Municipal Court ruling found Czech data retention directly contradicts European law — judge's summary: "The state has failed" — and found the processing itself constitutes individual harm, opening the path for financial compensation claims by other affected Czech citizens. Alongside the data-retention file, Vobořil directs IuRe's Big Brother Awards Czech Republic (running annually since 2005), the Right to Analogue campaign using strategic litigation to protect access to cash payments and non-digital public services, and public education work on biometric surveillance including the "Czech Republic is not China" campaign opposing the Czech Ministry of the Interior's attempt to extend AI Act–prohibited facial recognition authority beyond airports.
