Clara Sacco co-founded data_labe alongside Gilberto Vieira in 2016 within the Observatório de Favelas in Maré, Rio de Janeiro. Named as a founding manager in data_labe's own 2017 account of its structure and early development, she and Vieira both came from popular-territory backgrounds, a founding condition the lab treats as constitutive of its methodology and voice.
